Since being founded in 1928, the Somerville Rescue Squad has provided the citizens of Somerville, Somerset County, and Central New Jersey with exemplary, ALL VOLUNTEER, emergency medical and rescue services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. As the oldest inland rescue squad in New Jersey and one of the oldest emergency medical services in the United States we have a proud tradition of service to citizens, businesses, and government that call Somerville home. This proud tradition of service is continued today by our members. They come from all walks of life but share a common sense of duty, dedication and teamwork. They put themselves on the line every day to aid and protect their neighbors and community. The Line and Administrative Officers of the Somerville Rescue Squad are pleased to announce our merger with the Raritan First Aid Squad. Effective June 12, 2007 the two squads now operate as the Somerville Rescue Squad and are pleased to serve the residents and businesses in the Borough of Raritan New Jersey. The combined organization offers over 150 years cumulative service to the citizens we serve.
